Hey, there. My name is Charlotte—I am a dramaturg and writer, with a focus on opera, theater, and classical music. Past projects have taken me to the Washington National Opera, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Glimmerglass Festival, American Opera Projects, and the Saarländisches Staatstheater. After training as a classical mezzo-soprano at Oberlin Conservatory, I moved to Germany as a fellow of the Congress-Bundestag Exchange—a year-long State Department fellowship—and stayed for a further three years as an assistant dramaturg in Theater Freiburg’s music theater and concert divisions. I returned to the US last year to pursue my MFA in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism as part of the class of 2028 at Yale’s David Geffen School of Drama.

My work encompasses writing analytical articles, program notes, and reviews; giving pre-show audience lectures; translating plays and libretti; translating and adapting libretti into supertitles; and offering editorial assistance to developing projects. I am proficient in German, testing at C1 (one level below native) on the Common European Framework of Languages.
